The 100g Bar is for those who wish to hold gold in a smaller amount. The total weight of this bar is 100g or 3.215 oz of .9999 purity. This is the unit of gold that is readily obtainable for the average bullion trader, & can be bought & sold easily due to its vast international recognition. The bars are “poured” & then weighed to the exact specifications.
Metric weight gold bars are gaining acceptance in the U.S. primarily because they sell at much smaller markups over spot than do bullion gold coins. The kilo gold bar (1,000 grams; 32.15 ounces) carries, as a rule, the smallest premium. 100-gram bars (3.215 oz) sell at slightly higher premiums than kilo bars.
In the past, metric technique weight bars have not been popular; however, the shortage of bullion coins that developed in the summer of 2008, caused buyers to be more receptive to other forms of gold investments, resulting in metric weight bars gaining acceptance.
